Verzeihen Sie meine Englisch

Coming from an windows mobile device that we ported Android too, I was sure that not having bootloader access wouldn't restrict 3rd party roms. So as proof of concept I've put together a port of CM mod's latest 5.07.
It's currently 'in progress' and I'm looking for someone to help me finish it up.

What doesn't work;
-USB connection only works if it's connected while the phone is booted
-the path statement and my busybox stuff is giving me grief (probably why USB is having an issue)
-Market; giving Server errors
-Gtalk; just goes back to home
-Camera; works with aosp camera app, not with moto camera app
-Camcorder; works with motocamcorder, not with aosp

What works;
If it's not mentioned it works.

So far I've built the init and confirmed that I can make it load using the init.rc on the system. Unfortunatly as I've only had this phone a short period of time I'm not sure which libs and services are required for the kernel. As well this is my first time creating an update.zip so I'm not sure I've got the script all proper.

My advice is, if you want to talk to someone who has a more than average knowledge about this device, you should visit the IRC channel #milestone-modding on the server irc.freenode.org some of the people who idle there are true experts when it comes to milestone modding.


i would love to help you further, but i am afraid i still have a lot to "study" for this matter, and i also have to get a Milestone again.


From what i can tell, your idea seems to be pretty good and solid enough in theory, lets hope you achieve the goal most of us have been seeking to achieve our selves!

I think you are on the wrong board, you have to search for work on xda developers and so on ...

I've been compiling custom roms for some time now, just for a different phone. I was hoping since this board is so active I'd find someone who knows more of the milestone specifics to help me get this sorted out. But yeah, your right, I'll get it figured eventually.
