Big News for Little Devices: Progress with ICS/JB Video Playback/Recording for ARMv6 Devices

While many devices sporting an ARMv6 processor such as the ZTE Blade and LGP500 have received ports of Ice Cream Sandwich and even Jellybean, these builds haven’t been without some major problems. One of the more frustrating issues has been buggy or non existent video playback and due to the fact that Qualcomm has ended support for their ARMv6 SOCs. Solving this problem has not been easy for developers. Thankfully there is now some light at the end of the tunnel.
The good news for those of you running ICS or JB on an ARMv6 device is that XDA Forum Member Ganster41 has released a modified version of the stagefrightlib that should work with Qualcomms legacy OMX libs, and bring video playback/recording functionality to 4.0+ ROMS. Being a ZTE Blade owner himself, Ganster41 has already built a ROM for the device using these modified files which offers working hardware accelerated video playback and recording . He also provides links to the modified frameworks so others can include them in their work for other devices, as well as instructions on how to do just that.
If you are interested in learning more about this, be sure to check out the original thread for more info.
