As more and more themes become developed for MIUI, we need to further ensure the copyrights of the designers to continue an environment conducive to both MIUI and the designers. Furthermore, as we are working on a platform to allow international designers to get paid for their theme designs, this new policy will help to protect the designer's design and instigate more quality themes . To do so, MIUI has decided to change some of the theme policies.
Please note, as of May 1st, the following policy will be fully enforced: All MIUI themes and theme components, in mtz file format, will need to be uploaded onto the MIUI themes (upload via designer.xiaomi.com). Any MIUI theme and theme components (i.e. download from forums, websites or other sources) that does not get uploaded into the MIUI theme apk, can no longer be applied onto the MIUI ROM. To specify, components in an mtz file format can include:
- Theme
- Lockscreen
- Icon
- Font
- Boot animation
- Avatars
If you are a designer and have current themes you want to share after May 1st please sign up for a designer.xiaomi.com account and upload your themes to the MIUI Themes apk.

It's that time again.
Xiaomi is celebrating tomorrow it's 3rd year in business! given the moves they have made lately there has been some questionable moves to the business model of Apple. That said, Xiaomi have came at Android and other devices and platforms with a fresh approach which sets them apart from other Android ROMS and devices.
It's great to have seen this company rise up from the beginning, having had a Nexus One in 2010 when it first launched it's great to see them still in business!

MIUI auf älteren Geräten!

Hallo zusammen
Dieser Artikel soll ehemaligen MIUI Nutzern, die ein neues Gerät nutzen auf dem kein MIUI verfügbar ist oder deren Gerät schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist, frischen Wind in die Segel geben. Die Palette an ROM Versionen bei MIUI war in den letzten Monaten stark ausgebaut worden und wird nun mit der neuen MIUI v5 erst einmal wieder deutlich kleiner werden. Da die neue Version v5 von MIUI in erster Linie nur für Geräte erscheinen, die bisher ein Android 4.1.1 Update erhalten haben durch den Hersteller.
Eine Alternative für ältere Gerät oder Geräte die kein weiteres Update erhalten gibt es aber Die Alternative heisst Mi-Home !
Mi-Home ist der eigene Launcher von MIUI welchen man kostenlos im Google Playstore erhalten kann. Zu diesem Launcher erhält man auch noch 2-3 zusätzliche Erweiterungen, welche das jeweilige Gerät nahezu perfekt an das original MIUI optisch und auch technisch angepasst wird. Es ist natürlich nicht 100% MIUi, aber sagen wir doch mal 80%. Denn der Mi-Home Launcher bringt schon sehr viele Funktionen von MIUI auf eurer Gerät. So kann man mit ihm ebenfalls die typischen MIUI Themes nutzen um sein Gerät individuell anzupassen.
Wir haben das ganze mal auf unserem ersten MIUI Gerät getestet, mit dem das ganze Abenteuer damals angefangen hat. dem guten alten Google Nexus One !
Als Grundbasis wurde ein CyanogenMod 10.1 für das Google Nexus One rausgesucht welches mit seinem A2SD Script eine wunderbare Basis liefert. Es ist schlank und nur mit den notwendigsten APKs ausgestattet die man zum Betrieb benötigt. Eine gute Grundbasis ist mit das wichtigste, damit später die restlichen Programme gut laufen. Dies ist natürlich auf jedem Gerät teilweise verschieden.
Auf diesem ROM wird dann der Mi-Home Launcher über den Playstore installiert. Dieser bildet dann sozusagen das MIUI Grundgerüst. Damit aber auch das richtige MIUI Feeling überspringt, muss man noch den Telefon & Kontakte Bereich ein wenig pimpen. Die erreicht man sehr gut einem weiteren Programm aus dem Palystore, welches sich exDialers & Contacts nennt. Wer dazu auch noch die Wetteranzeige wie auf dem neusten MIUI Gerät haben möchte, installiert sich noch Weather BZ dazu. Auch noch MIUI v4 Musik nutzen wollen..kein Problem MIUI v4 als einzelne APK findet man bei XDA-Developers.
Mit all diesen Zusatzprogrammen fühlt man sich MIUI schon sehr nahe und wenn man die richtige Grundbasis wählt, sollte es auch sehr rund laufen was es auf unserem Nexus One macht. Da Wir auf unserem Testgerät CM 10.1 gewählt haben, können wir noch auf eine Zusätzliche APK zurückgreifen, welche unseren Einstellungsbereich und die Statusbar an MIUI anpasst. Diese APK ist eine Themedatei für CyanogenMod 10.1 und findet man ebenfalls bei den XDA-Developers.

Wir haben das ganze mal auf unserem ersten MIUI Gerät getestet, mit dem das ganze Abenteuer damals angefangen hat. dem guten alten Google Nexus One !
Als Grundbasis wurde ein CyanogenMod 10.1 für das Google Nexus One rausgesucht welches mit seinem A2SD Script eine wunderbare Basis liefert. Es ist schlank und nur mit den notwendigsten APKs ausgestattet die man zum Betrieb benötigt. Eine gute Grundbasis ist mit das wichtigste, damit später die restlichen Programme gut laufen. Dies ist natürlich auf jedem Gerät teilweise verschieden.
Auf diesem ROM wird dann der Mi-Home Launcher über den Playstore installiert. Dieser bildet dann sozusagen das MIUI Grundgerüst. Damit aber auch das richtige MIUI Feeling überspringt, muss man noch den Telefon & Kontakte Bereich ein wenig pimpen. Die erreicht man sehr gut einem weiteren Programm aus dem Palystore, welches sich exDialers & Contacts nennt. Wer dazu auch noch die Wetteranzeige wie auf dem neusten MIUI Gerät haben möchte, installiert sich noch Weather BZ dazu. Auch noch MIUI v4 Musik nutzen wollen..kein Problem MIUI v4 als einzelne APK findet man bei XDA-Developers.
Mit all diesen Zusatzprogrammen fühlt man sich MIUI schon sehr nahe und wenn man die richtige Grundbasis wählt, sollte es auch sehr rund laufen was es auf unserem Nexus One macht. Da Wir auf unserem Testgerät CM 10.1 gewählt haben, können wir noch auf eine Zusätzliche APK zurückgreifen, welche unseren Einstellungsbereich und die Statusbar an MIUI anpasst. Diese APK ist eine Themedatei für CyanogenMod 10.1 und findet man ebenfalls bei den XDA-Developers.

Xiaomi TV box - start selling mid Feb? (UPDATE: selling Apr 9th)
Xiaomi Box will receive approval from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) through collaboration with a third party, and the company plans on resuming sales of the device before the Chinese New Year in mid-February.
According to one industry source, Xiaomi may partner with Hangzhou-based DTV and IPTV operator Wasu Digital TV and Shanghai Media Group subsidiary BesTV New Media. There will also be changes to the set-top box's functions once services resume.
Xiaomi was forced to suspend its online media service one week after its launch in early November for violating severalregulations.
Any company interested in offering a set-top box in China is required to partner with one of seven media organizations that have been issued the relevant permits by The State Administration of Radio Film and Television, Chinas media regulator.
Another issue is that the Xiaomi TV Box allows users to watch videos directly via public websites that Xiaomi does not own the rights to, which is also in violation of SARFTs rules for set-top boxes, according to TechinAsia.

XiaoMI MI-3 Leaks aufgetaucht – 2,3 Ghz und Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie
Es gibt Gegenden auf der Welt wie China da wird eine Smartphone Marke wie ein Kultobjekt verehrt, während wir uns hier in Europa schwer tun den Namen richtig auszusprechen. Die Rede ist von XiaoMi den Machern des legendären MIUI ROM`s und nebenbei Entwickler von recht günstigen High-End Phones.
Schon der Vorgänger das Quad-Core bestückten MI-2 hat es trotz Ankündigung nie nach Europa geschafft. Lediglich über einen chinesischen Direktimport mit möglichem Zollaufschlag ist es erhältlich. Vor einiger Zeit sind nun erste Renderings des MI-3 aufgetaucht, die auf den ersten Blick ein wirklich ästhetisches Smartphone präsentieren. Ein wenig ähnelt die Optik dem gerade releasten HTC ONE, ein Schelm wer Böses dabei denkt. Ob wir hier das mögliche Endprodukt sehen sollte man wie immer mit einer Portion Skepsis betrachten.
Bei der Bestückung hat man das Gefühl das XiaoMI wirklich alles in das MI-3 reinpackt was im Moment en Vogue ist. So ist klar, dass das MI-3 mindestens über ein 5 Zoll Display mit Full-HD (1920 x 1080) Auflösung verfügen wird. Da in der High-End Klasse der Einsatz einer Kamera mit 13 Megapixel im Moment das Non-Plus-Ultra darstellt gehen die Blogs auch beim MI-3 von dieser Kapazität aus.
Im Prozessor Bereich wird das MI-3 nach den Vorhersagen dann aber alles bisher dagewesene toppen. Denn ein Snapdragon 800 mit 2,3 Ghz ist bisher in keinem anderen Smartphone zu finden. Zum RAM bzw. der internen Speicherausstattung gibt es bisher vom Hersteller keine Aussage. Aber ich gehe davon aus, dass wir auch hier als Minimum 2 GB wenn nicht sogar 3 GB RAM und 16 bzw. 32 GB an internem Speicher sehen werden. Ob das MI-3 einen Erweiterungsslot haben wird ist auch nicht sicher, denn beim MI-2 hat der Hersteller darauf verzichtet.
Als Powerquelle soll ein 3000 mAh starker Akku verbaut werden, der für gute Laufzeiten sorgen sollte. Da XiaoMI den Release des MI-3 erst für den Herbst geplant hat verwundert es kaum, dass man als System auf Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie setzt. Allgemein wird erwartet, dass Google “Key Lime Pie” auf seiner Developer Konferenz IO im Mai (15-17.05) vorstellen wird. Zusätzlich wird XiaoMI auf dem MI-3 eine angepasste Oberfläche seines MIUI ROM`s ausrollen.
Angenommen das MI-3 wäre für einen guten Preis erhältlich, könntet ihr euch vorstellen eines zu erwerben? Ich bin gespannt auf eure Antworten in unserem Forum!

Xiaomi rumours and leaks have begun already. We know the Mi3 is coming we just don’t know when.

The Mi3 is rumoured to have a 5-inch 1080 display, 2.5GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and could possibly run a Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core chip! Other than that we don’t know much else except it will likely cost 1999 Yuan ($320).
Why we like the Xiaomi Mi3
The current 4.3-inch, Snapdragon equipped Mi2 is one of our favourite phones, I actually own one as my personal phone! I love the power, speed, battery life, great rear camera and the price. If the Mi3 is at least as good as the Mi2 but with a 1080 display I would be happy, but with the extra power and higher res camera It’s going to be a whole lot more!
