hi,
habe es auf mein mediapad geflasht und ist alles wundbar. nur habe ich jetzt ein problem bzw eine frage. bisher habe ich den dload ordner auf die sd geschoben, das MP gebootet und es wurde isntalliert. nun mit dem neeun recovery bootet es eben ins recovery, abe rwie soll ich es installieren?

Hallo, es handelt sich ja hier um eine beta! dload wird nicht unterstützt. (mediapad hat 2 recovery partitionen)

Für dload musst du wieder auf die orginal recovery zurück (fastboot flash orginal recovery)

Habe eine lösung aber möchte noch selber testen um etwas zu posten!

Mit der ICS recovery sollte sich damit auch eine touch-recovery erstellen lassen.

seit die CWM drauf ist, bootet das Pad nur noch die CWM!
auch "reboot device" als erste Option in der CWM landet wieder dort...
hab erstmal die original zurückgeflasht. wer kann helfen?

WIE hast Du denn die cwm geflasht?
Ausserdem, wofür brauchst Du das? Wirklich produktiv kann man doch im Moment sowieso nichts damit anfangen.

Comec hat recht. CWM ist für unser MediaPad unnötig. Die "dload" Funktion zusammen mit Titanium Backup gibt uns aureichend Möglichkeit, das Gerät mit einer Updateversion des Betriebssystems auszustatten und dann die Anwendungen zurückzusichern.

Ich brauche das CWM, um das Pad ursächlich "platt" zu machen (System/Data/Cache "wipen", Davidings-Cache löschen).
Aber eben nur temporär...

Dafür kannst Du aber auch den System Tuner Pro nehmen...

den Dalvik Cache löscht Dir auch Titanium Backup.

SD Maid räumt Dir fast alles auf.

Was mir aber nicht viel nützt, wenn das Zeug vom Pad soll, bevor ein Image aufgespielt wird, oder?
(und die SD-Card bleibt bei der Nummer natürlich vollkommen aussen vor)

Jo genau. hab ein Fullbackup gemacht und dann Full Wipe. wollt ein 100% frisches Pad damit nach dem ROM Update garantiert nichts zicken kann

Please forgive the English-language intrusion, aber mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut.

I have a T-Mobile Springboard flashed to the S7-301u B005 ICS firmware.

Something is definitely amiss with the data partitions created in these backups. On any other device I can restore apps from a nandroid using Titanium and it lets me choose from a list of apps.

For a backup made with this CWM, I get a list of partition names instead when I try to open it from Titanium.

I tried opening it from Nandroid Browser and here's what I see:
- /data/app/ contains all the APK files
- /data/backup, cust, dun
- /data/property bunch of system files
- /data/share contains everything on the internal SD - my downloads, my Titanium backups, absolutely everything. No wonder it is such a big bloated file!
- /data/system/ contains what /data/system should have in it
- /data/tombstones and /user/0

What I don't see any sign of is /data/data which is where app data is stored. So it's backing up both *too much* and *not enough*. Will there be any progress on fixing the data backups?

Sorry, for now I don't get an idea of what's going wrong with your device.
How you've got the backup, which app was used and where did you store it?
You made an upgrade to ICS B005... how and from which version did you come?

Standard path for doing an upgrade:
- complete backup (all system/user apps) with titanium backup to an external sd-card
- copy the "dload" folder to the external sd-card and remove it
- restart the device and do a "factory reset" with it
- switch off the device, plug in the sd-card, watch the automatic reflash, remove the sd-card when prompted to do so
- skip assistants and do a "factory reset" under ICS (thats important to fix bad partitions if there are some)
- do first start steps and plug in the sd-card, perferably switch to sd-card as the primary memory
- load titanium backup from Google store und resture your apps (NOT the system settings

An you are done.

So which way did you go?
You wrote, that you've done a backup with the inofficial CWM?

Thank you for your reply. I should clarify that the upgrade worked perfectly - my tablet works great and I am not having any problems with it, other than what might be an incompatibility between radio firmwares.

What I'm writing about is, I believe, a problem with CWM. It's already been reported here that the backup/restore isn't working right, because app data doesn't restore properly.

Why did I take a CWM backup? Because I wanted to see what actually ends up in the backup files. I used the app "Nandroid Browser" which can be found on the Play Store. What I found is:
- The apps themselves (APK files from /data/app) are backed up. Good.
- The app data (contents of /data/data) are not backed up at all - they are not found anywhere inside the data.img.ext4 file. Bad.
- Inside the archive, in the folder "/data/share", it stored a copy of the entire contents of the internal memory (/sdcard). Bad. These files are not supposed to be part of a normal nandroid backup.

So what I am saying is: The CWM posted in this thread is not backing up the correct files from the data partition. It's failing to store app data (which explains why app data won't restore properly), and it's archiving files that should not be in there (internal /sdcard contents). Whichever developer is working on the next version of this CWM should be focusing their attention on which files get backed up.
