Google Pixel-Update – September 2025​

We have started to roll out the monthly software update for September 2025. All supported Pixel devices running Android 16 will receive these software updates starting today, and the rollout will continue over the next week in phases, depending on carrier and device. You will receive a notification once the system update is available for your device. We encourage you to check your Android version and update to receive the latest software.

Your Pixel devices become even more helpful with Pixel Drops. They’re automatic software updates that send new and upgraded features to your phone, tablet, earbuds, and watch (1), so your Pixel devices keep getting better over time. To get all the details about the September Pixel Drop, visit the Pixel Drop page of the Google Store.

When will I see the new features?
Supported Pixel devices will receive these software updates starting today. The rollout of these features will continue over the coming weeks in phases depending on carrier and device.

You will receive a notification once the system update is available for your device. Update to the latest Android version and update your apps, then look out for a notification from the My Pixel app to learn more about all of the ways your Pixel just got more helpful.

Warum findet mein Telefon kein Update?
Die OTA-Updates werden z.T. erst später freigeschaltet.

Warum dauert das Update so lange?
Das Pixel hat zwei Partitionen, das Betriebssystem ist quasi doppelt im Speicher.
Wenn ein Update kommt, wird es auf die nicht verwendete Partition aufgespielt.
Anschließend werden Apps/Einstellungen von der aktiven Partition mit der bislang nicht verwendeten abgeglichen.
Schließlich wird der Cache aller Apps zurückgesetzt (Optimierung).
Wenn das alles erledigt ist, wird man zum Neustart aufgefordert.
Dabei wird dann auf die bislang nicht verwendete Partition mit erfolgtem Update umgeschaltet.

Damit man das Telefon währenddessen weiter nutzen kann, passiert das alles im Hintergrund mit niedriger Priorität.
Deshalb dauert es, und deshalb ist es egal, ob das Update nur ein kB oder mehrere MB groß ist.
Denn nicht die Änderung dauert, sondern das danach.

Der Vorteil ist, läuft beim Update etwas schief, kann auf die Version vor dem Update umgeschaltet werden.

Tipp: Wenn ein Update kommt, Abends ans Netzteil, Update starten und am nächsten Morgen neu starten.

Momentan arbeitet Google aber an der Update-Prozedur, damit die Updates schneller installiert werden.

Warum ist der Google Play Sicherheitsstand nicht aktuell?
Das Google-Play-Systemupdate ist unabhängig vom monatlichen Pixel-Sicherheitsupdate.
Es ist also durchaus normal, wenn der Google Play Sicherheitsstand älter ist!

Edit: Sorry. falscher Thread. Aber werd morgen mein P7P updaten, um dann final nach erfolgreicher Migration aufs P10PXL das 7er zu resetten.

Material 3 ist mir auch gleich nach dem Neustart aufgefallen.

Was mir spontan nach dem ersten Neustart auffällt, es gibt nur noch eine Anzeige für die Empfangsstärke trotz zweier aktiver SIM-Karten. Bisher gab es je SIM eine eigene Anzeige, bei einer davon wurde auch angezeigt, dass sie im Roaming ist. Eine Entstellung, um beide Empfangsstärken anzuzeigen, habe ich bislang nicht gefunden.

Und weiterhin, das aber ist keine Überraschung, lässt sich das Batteriesymbol nicht ändern sondern zeigt weiterhin die altertümlich liegende Batterie.
Ach ja, und die Einstellungen erscheinen jetzt im Enid-Look statt wie bisher im Wednesday-Look. Wer's mag …

Die untere Punktreihe steht für die Nicht-Daten-SIM, oben ist die Daten-SIM wie üblich abgebildet. Wenn der Empfang bei den SIMs unterschiedlich ist, fällt das leichter auf - bei dir ist der Empfang gerade ja gleich stark (zumindest auf "Balkenebene").

Hm. Danke für die Erklärung, intuitiv ist anders. Und die Information bzgl. Roaming fehlt halt einfach.

Ich bin üblicherweise auch Fan von minimalistischem Design, aber die bunten Farben in den Settings finde ich mittlerweile echt praktisch. Der Akku ist die erste grüne Spalte. Vorher musste man nach Symbol oder Text suchen.

Ob ich jetzt dieses Chaos mit eckigen und abgerundeten Quick-Settings gutfinde, weiss ich nocht nicht. Bisher ekenne ich keinen Mehrwert. Aber dass man die Größe der Quick-Settings anpassen kann, finde ich praktisch.

Kann es sein, dass das Laden des Akkus einen abbekommen hat oder hängt mit der Optimierung zusammen?
Wenn ich das Laden auf 80% (Optimiertes Laden) setze, Optimierung des Akkuzustandes, dann wird trotzdem auf 100% geladen!
Soweit ich mich erinnere war das vorher nicht so (bin mir aber nicht sicher, ob ich da die Zustandsoptimierung auch an hatte).

Google schreibt glaub ich irgendwo, dass von Zeit zu Zeit auch mal bis 100% geladen wird, selbst wenn man 80% eingestellt hat.

Ich muss das mal weiter beobachten.

Bei ungleicher Empfangsstärke sieht's etwas albern aus.
Na ja, ich werde mich dran gewöhnen, was immer die Entwickler getrieben hat, den Informationsgehalt dermaßen zu reduzieren.

Wo genau siehst du da eine Platzersparnis? Oben A 16 August 2025, unten A16 September 2025; und da ist noch nicht einmal ein Roaming-Symbol zu sehen.
